Our Church & Minister

Our Church

Our church family is a blend of warm, friendly and welcoming people. Consisting of a diverse group of friends, we come from many nations and encompass all ages. Our present congregation is made up of 100 adults and 25 children with a leadership team consisting of Andrew our minister and several elders and deacons.

At the heart of our life together is a desire to grow in our relationship with each other and God, these relationships are characterized by our five core values: Loving compassion, Inclusive of all, Growing a family, Honouring the Bible, Taking the Gospel into the world, which are summed up in the word LIGHT.

But our desire is to be not just a people of light for ourselves but a people of light to the wider community that we are part of.

Why do people love coming to Muswell Hill Baptist Church? Here are some thoughts from those who come:

We can all get together as one and worship the Lord. Caroline is really nice             Laura (aged 11)

I love Muswell Hill Baptist Church because everyone is very friendly and there (are) many different races and cultures             Anon

I love MHBC because we all have fun, we are a family             Roxy (aged 14)

Muswell Hill Baptist Church is a member of the London Baptist Association, the Baptist Union of Great Britain, Muswell Hill Churches and the Evangelical Alliance, for further information on these organisations please see the page called 'Useful Links'.

The church building is over a hundred years old and situated in a conservation area. There is seating capacity for about 400 people with curved pews, balcony and a timber, vaulted roof.

Facilities include two major halls, one below the church itself and the other in a newer building at the rear, designed for indoor sport. There are also two smaller meeting rooms below the church. We have well-equipped kitchen facilities. Plans for other improvements are under consideration.

As followers of Jesus we aim to be inclusive of all. A wheelchair ramp, WC for disabled people, electrical chair lift, large print materials and audio loop systems in both the main church and hall facilitate our shared fellowship.

Our Minister

Andrew took up appointment as our Pastor on 18th August 2003 along with Rachel and their three children Aimee, Joshua and Bethanie, having spent the three previous years at Regents Park College.

Andrew loves history, gardening (even though he hasn’t a clue what he is doing) and watching rugby. With the addition of ‘Beau’ to the family (a dog) he looks forward to taking long walks in Alexandra Park.
